The Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology Lab (LabPaleo²) is located at the Center for Marine Studies from the Federal University of Paraná (CEM/UFPR), investigating the Ocean in the following areas:

• Sedimentology: physical characteristics of marine sediments applied in the understanding of modern and past sedimentary processes related to changes in the bottom current intensity of coastal and marine environments;

​

• Marine Geochemistry: geochemical tools (elemental ratios and stable isotopic composition) applied in paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic studies - historical reconstruction of human activity in coastal environments, marine pollution, and environmental characterization (coastal and marine);

​

• Marine micropaleontology: planktonic and benthic foraminifera assemblages in paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic reconstructions and in environmental monitoring studies.
